What is Reiki? “Rei” and “Ki” are broken down into their component parts of the Japanese alphabet definitions. Rei means universal, transcendental spirit, mysterious power, and essence. Ki means vital life-force energy (“chi” of Chinese energy, “light” in the Christian tradition, and “bioplasmic energy” in the world of science and research). It is the Universal Life Force Energy that belongs to the universe and is the inherent right and legacy of every living being. |

Thus, to accurately define Reiki, it must be said that it is the Universal Life Force Energy created for us by grace. God gives grace to us – not because we deserve it, not because we want it, not because we’ve earned it; it simply is ours because God loves us. Reiki energy is ours to use for that reason and that reason only. It is always safe, always positive, and a source of comfort to both the receiver and the giver. Reiki energy is utilized for healing to the highest good. This energy is further named in the East as "chi," "ki," or "prana." |

This energy can be received and given through energy pathways. Energy flows through these pathways to where the thought is focused. It starts from the mind, proceeds to the heart, then to the hands, and from there directly to the area on the recipient where it is needed most. From that point it circulates to all places in the body where needed. The thought and heart focus is created by the power of the givers intention - without which, any type of healing is without value or merit. |

Energy flows to the path of least resistance. Strength of the flow of energy is dependent on connection to energy; the more you use it, the more it strengthens. Reiki is transmitted through the body by means of activating and opening all of the chakras. Therefore, it heals the vital physical body, which includes the endocrine gland and system, which filters through the blood by way of the circulatory system. Every physical healing must be done through the vital physical body. Only then can the emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies be healed. |
